BEOPAR MANDAL WELCOMES THE MOVE OF ADMINISTRATION TO CONVERT COMMERCIAL/INTITUTIONAL PROPERTIES FROM LEASE HOLD TO FREE HOLD BEFORE AUCTION

CBM ALSO DEMANDS CONVERSION OF ALREADY SOLD LEASE HOLD PROPERTIES TO FREEHOLD WITH RATIONAL CONVERSION CHARGES. 

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today welcomed the decision of Chandigarh Administration of converting commercial/industrial/institutional properties from lease hold to freehold prior to offering it to public in auctions.

Charanjiv Singh, President, CBM terms it as decision in right direction as agencies like CHB, MCC and Estate Office have not been able to sell these properties since 7-8 years. With the change in the policy, these properties will be sold and will give revenue to the state and chance to the traders to buy their shops in Chandigarh and it will also attract more investments in the city

Diwakar Sahoonja, Patron cum Official Spokes Person, CBM said that lease hold status of commercial properties devoid businessmen to avail business loans from the financial institutes and make sale and division of such properties most  difficult hence already sold lease hold property should also be allowed to be converted into free hold with the reasonable conversion charges.

Vinod Joshi, Chairman Building Byelaws Committee, CBM appealed to the Administrator to give approval to this move at the earliest so that these properties get free from the clutches of age-old lease hold system and becomes commercially viable. This will help in sale of 11 numbers of dedicated Nursing Homes sites in the city thereby improving health infrastructure in the state. These sites are lying vacant since ages because of lease hold policy.
