CHANDIGARH, 08 MARCH: An interactive session on the occasion of International Women’s Day was organized by WEशाखा- Women Cell, DAV College Sector-10 Chandigarh under the able guidance and dynamic leadership of College Principal Dr. Pawan Sharma. The resource person of the talk was Dr. (Mrs.) Swatantar Kapoor, Advocate Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Around 200 participants were present in the event which started with the lighting of deepshikha by the resource person, principal Dr. Pawan Sharma, Mrs. Deepti Madaan, Convener, WEशाखा- Women Cell, Dr. Arti Arya faculty member WEशाखा- Women Cell and student members of the cell, Ria and Mehar.
While narrating the story of Uday Bharti, a powerful woman in ancient India and Aadi Shankracharya, Dr. Pawan Sharma, Principal of the college motivated the girl students to excel in their respective field. Mrs. Deepti Madaan, Convener WEशाखा – Women Cell emphasized on the multiple roles being played by the women and wishing them a safe and better future. Dr. Arti Arya deliberated on the essence of WEशाखा and its aims and objectives. Dr. (Mrs.) Swatantar Kapoor, resource person of the day, dwelt upon legal aspect of women related issues like domestic violence, female foeticide, marital rape and also brought to light various articles in the Constitution. She engaged the participants in a lively and interactive way. Student members of WEशाखा- Women Cell actively participated in the event to make it a success.
