DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh Organises Library Orientation Programme

Project DISHA inaugurated to Enhance Access to Academic Resources for Visually Impaired Students

CHANDIGARH, 16 SEPTEMBER (ANewsoffice): Library of DAV College, Secto-10, Chandigarh organised its Orientation Programme for the session 2026-2027 to welcome and acquaint students with the rich resources, services and learning opportunities available in and through the College Library.

The programme began with the lamp lighting by college Principal Dr. Mona Narang, librarian Dr. Deepti Madaan, Dr. Nishtha Saxena, member, Library Committee, Mrs. Rajni Jindal assistant librarian, former panel members of RAAH – The Library Club. The session began with the welcome address of librarian Dr. Deepti Madaan who highlighted the evolving role of libraries and importance of reading, critical thinking and engagement with books in students’ lives. She also apprised the students about the sections and services of the library.

Principal Dr. Mona Narang motivated the students to visit library more often and refrain from relying on AI tools for academic purpose. She also inaugurated “Project Disha” an AI assisted digital library system designed to access academic literature by visually impaired and differently-abled students. The project has been developed by Varun, Prabhjot, Sushant and Aasees, BCA Final year students of our college. It will serve as an additional feature of the library catering to the different academic needs of these students.

Activities of RAAH (Read, Acquire, Achieve and Harmonise) The library Club was presented by former Vice President of the Club, Komal. New Panel of RAAH – The Library Club 2026-27 was also announced. Varun became the President, Shushank Vice President, Asees General Secretary, Prabhjot Joint Secretary and the executive members are Lakshay, Nikhal, Neha, Banapsha, Aashita and Pragati. Dr. Nishtha Saxena, faculty member of the Library Committee, delivered the concluding remarks and encouraged students to make the library an integral part of their academic and personal growth. Varun proposed vote of thanks as new President of RAAH The Library Club.
