CHANDIGARH: DAV College Chandigarh staff welcomed the new year with a Havan conducted in the college premises at the site of chain hunger strike today morning. A large gathering of teachers and non-teaching employees sat with reverence through the chants and ablutions offered to the Almighty as Pandit Dau Dayal Sharma sang hymns as per the tradition followed at the College. The teachers prayed to the Almighty to rid the world of the pandemic pangs and restore normalcy everywhere.
Leaving the celebration of the new year, their children joined the teachers’ protest
Children of the agitating teachers today joined the protest march and chain hunger strike after the Havan on the 32nd day of the complete work shutdown call given by PFUCTO and PCCTU. Children gave their new year celebration plans a miss, and instead marched alongwith their parents to protest at Madhya Marg holding placards. Panditji conducting the Havan prayed for better understanding on the part of Punjab Government, so that teachers and students could go back to classes, and not be forced to protest for their demands in the harsh weather.

- Prof RP Singh (Retd.), Dr. Kulvir Sra Dhindsa and Dr. Karan Singh Vinayak ( all DAV College Chandigarh) from 9am-5pm
- Dr. Neeraj Chamoli, Dr. Navneet Kumar & Dr. Paras Aggarwal (all from DAV College Chandigarh) from 5 pm today to 9am tomorrow
