The fight was between current chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and regional party president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu’s prejudice is thought to have been a major issue. The big problem is that he grew so obsessed with the Punjab model that he started talking about it everywhere. Congress party created a culture where simple words should not be used while insulting opponents. Sidhu uses derogatory terms when referring to opponents, especially Bikramjit Singh Majithia. There is also a lot of hostility to this in Punjab, but even after this, Sidhu did not take his language and choice of words seriously.
When Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down as Prime Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu took over as president. He has promised to relinquish his position as president of the country in order to secure a CM position. He indicated that he should be appointed as CM. This showed the senior team leader that he was pressuring CM’s position. This aroused concern over his thinking and acting. This was the last moment when Channi passed Sidhu. Sidhu focuses on the Punjab model only. The party knew that in this way, Sidhu was ready to face his political opponents at some point. The group also understands that if Sidhu is the face of CM, he will do his best to adopt the Punjab model under any circumstances. That is reason why he was denied the position of CM.
