CII Punjab gets new office bearers for 2021 – 22

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh made some important announcements at the CII Punjab State Annual Session 2020-21 held at CII Northern Region Headquarters, today.

He shared that the scope of Amnesty Scheme has been extended to cover all Land Cost Enhancement Charges. He said, “We have introduced one-time settlement (OTS) by the taxation department for all the years. There are 120 clearances to be taken, most of them will be done away with as soon as possible. He also said that true single window will be implemented in latter and spirit.

We are setting up a Committee of Secretaries which will examine all the OTS cases before going to court and only the important ones will be disbursed.

He also shared, “Investment projects worth 71,000 Cr have already been  implemented or are in various stages completion and target for his Government is to make it too 1,00,000 Cr” by the end of his tenure

Alok Shekhar, Principal Secretary – Industries, Commerce & Investment promotion, Government of Punjab, shared that soon Punjab Investment Promotion Amendment Bill 2021 would be introduced which will have provisions for auto approval of all the regulatory clearances within the specified timelines and auto renewals. There are 20 regulatory departments and all the application that are filed on the business portal, if they are not cleared within the specified timeline, the system-generated approvals will be given. This will ease the business in real sense.

On this occasion, the new incumbents of CII Punjab were also announced, here today. Mr Bhavdeep Sardana and Mr Amit Thapar have been elected as the Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively of CII Punjab for the year 2021-22.

Mr Bhavdeep Sardana is the Senior VP & CEO at The Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Limited.. He is actively engaged with State Govts and Govt. of India on policies affecting agro-processing industry and ease of doing business reforms. He is also a member of Punjab State Planning Board.

Elaborating on the priorities for the 2021-22, Mr Sardana said, “Our initiatives for the year would primarily focus on enhancing industry competitiveness, fostering ground for favourable industry policies, skill development and inclusivity, adoption of contemporary technology and innovations and working towards provisioning opportunities for industrial growth & development.”

While Amit Thapar is President of Ganga Acrowools Ltd. He is aged 47 years and has completed his BE Industrial & Production. He joined his maternal family business in 1999 and takes care of Export Marketing, New Product &  Brand development. Ganga Acrowools Limited is engaged in Manufacturing of Worsted, Semi worsted, Fancy and Woollen yarns for Machine knitting, Hand Knitting, & Carpet yarns and exports to over 50 countries all over the world
