CBM TAKES UP IMPORTANT TRADER ISSUES REGARDING GST, BUILDING BYELAWS AND LABOUR LAWS IN MEETING OF TRADE WELFARE BOARD

ONE TIME SETTLEMENT OF OLD VAT CASES ON PUNJAB PATTERN, CONVERSION OF COMMERCIAL LEASEHOLD PROPERTY TO FREEHOLD, RATIONALIZATION OF EXTRA COVERAGE CHARGES AND UNEARNED PROFIT WERE FEW OF MOST IMPORTANT TRADER ISSUES STRONGLY TAKEN UP BY CBM

CHANDIGARH, 14 MARCH: An important meeting of Trade Welfare Board U.T. Chandigarh was held today at UT Guest House chaired by Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh to deliberate Trader issues. A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal namely Charanjiv Singh, President, Diwakar Sahoonja, Patron, Ram Karan Gupta, Advisor, Sanjeev Chadha and Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, General Secretaries participated in this most important meeting attended by representatives of Industry, Taxation Lawyers as well as Senior Officials from Excise & Taxation Department, Labor Department and Estate Office who constitute this most important board to take up welfare steps for business community of Chandigarh.


Ram Karan Gupta who is also Chairman GST Coordination Committee of CBM demanded Amnesty cum one time settlement scheme for all pending VAT cases of Chandigarh on the pattern of Punjab. It was also pointed out that Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra have already come out with such schemes


Charanjiv Singh, President, CBM pointed out unprecedented and unjustified conversion cum extra coverage charges while converting commercial buildings from SCF to SCO increased recently from Rs.5 Lac to Rs.60-70 Lac. He pleaded for rationalization of these charges. He also pleaded for One Time License for Shop registration from labor Department instead of renewal every year.


Diwakar Sahoonja, Patron, CBM demanded general trade to be included in permissible business activities on upper floors of commercial buildings in the category of other allowed trades like Gyms, Coaching Institutes, Diagnostic Labs and Beauty Parlors etc without any conversion charges.

Sanjeev Chadha, Gen. Secy., CBM while appreciating the move of Chandigarh Administration to sell commercial property on freehold basis pleaded for conversion of already sold commercial property from leasehold to freehold on reasonable charges. 

KamalJit Singh Panchhi, Gen. Secy., CBM demanded rationalizing of unearned profit while transferring of allotted leasehold property and reduction in collateral rates in general. He also pleaded for time bound processing of files in Estate Office so that general public is not harassed.

Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh pointed out that some of the above raised issues are already in the pipeline and assured to take up the other issues with Chandigarh Administration very soon in the near future.
