Panjab University Students’ Council Election held on 6th September, Car Rally banned

CHANDIGARH, 1 SEPTEMBER: Panjab University Campus Students’ Council Election is scheduled to be held on 6.9.2023 and voting in the Departments will commence at 9.30 a.m.  The total number of students is 15693 in the University Campus (Sec.14 & 25).  For the post of President, 9 candidates are contesting and for the posts of Vice-President, Secretary & Joint Secretary, 4 candidates each are contesting.  There are total 179 booths for elections in various departments.  In 40 Departments, 58 Departmental Representatives are elected unopposed and in remaining 29 Departments, for 68 positions of Departmental Representatives there will be election

After the meeting of University Authorities with Chandigarh Police, the following instructions have been issued to the student organizations:

1.         Students of Panjab University are responsible persons; therefore, they should not indulge in violence.

2.         Strict action will be taken against the students involved in illegal activities.

3.         CRPC 144 is imposed in the city till October 2023. Therefore, prior permission of District Magistrate is required for any type of big procession or rally etc.

4.         Outsiders’ entry is totally banned till elections are over.

5.         Any type of weapons are not allowed at the campus. Licenced weapons are also banned.

6.         Canvassing in the group of only 5 persons is allowed.

7.         Action will be taken against the students/organizations who indulge is organizing trips, parties etc.

8.         Car Rally is also total banned.
