CHANDIGARH, 22 NOVEMBER: Dr. (Mrs.) Deepti Madaan, Librarian, DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh was awarded “1st ASLIP Progressive Librarian Award 2023” in an International Conference held in Ajmer on November 17-18, 2023.
The Chief guest of this exclusive award function was Professor U. Singh who retired from AIIMS, New Delhi and is a well-known physician in the world. She has been presented this award in recognition of her services in the domain of library and information science. A forward-looking library professional, she works towards harmonising technological advancements along with humane serving in various domains of library functioning. Another hallmark of her approach is bringing college students to the library who have become fully social media addicted.
The college principal Prof. Rita Jain provides full support to all the library activities organised by Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Deepti Madaan. This International ASLIP Conclave was on “Library Technology Relationship” and was organised by Association of Senior Library and Information Professionals (ASLIP) in collaboration with JLN Medical College, Ajmer.
This association has been established to provide a platform to the library and information professionals so that they can air their voice and views. Another aim of the association is to serve the needy retired library professionals.
Dr. R. P. Kumar, former librarian, AIIMS, New Delhi is the president of this association and Dr. Raj Kumar, former librarian, Panjab University, Chandigarh is the general secretary of this association. All other executive members of the association are senior retired library professionals who have served in various prestigious HEIs of India.
Another defining feature of the Association is the playing of “ASLIP Geet” which has been adopted by ASLIP Executive. The Geet whose lyrics have been penned down by two library professionals namely Dr. (Mrs.) Deepti Madaan, Librarian and Ms. Pooja Saraf, Assistant Librarian working in DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh. It was composed and sung by Mr. Arun Dhamija who is a Bollywood singer. It was decided that the Geet would be played in every forthcoming event of ASLIP. This ASLIP Geet will be released worldwide on more than 100 leading music channels like Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, Apple Music and Hungama Music.
